How Many Clothes Should I Buy For My Child?
Deux par Deux

Dressing your little ones can be a real challenge! You have to make sustainable and economical choices but also satisfy their clothing needs, while prioritizing quality and style. It's also easy to end up with too many sweaters, not enough pants, and too few T-shirts...
So, how much clothing should a child have?
To help you think clearly and set your shopping goals, we tell you exactly how much clothing to buy for your little one. The two-word solution? Make lists!
How many clothes per age for a child?

As they grow, your little ones' needs change! A baby who spends most of their time at home will obviously have different clothing needs than a 5-year-old.
Here's a list of clothes to plan for according to age!
Note that for each item, materials vary according to the season. Warm materials are preferred in autumn/winter and breathable, lightweight materials in spring/summer.
From 0 to 6 months
During their first six months, baby spends most of their day in their crib and in their parents’ arms. Between naps and diaper changes, comfort is a must! We, therefore, advise you to choose quality clothes made from organic cotton in quantities just large enough for (sometimes) frequent changes.
For your baby, plan on:
- 5 to 10 rompers
- 5 to 10 pajamas
- 5 pairs of tights/pantyhose
- One or two little hats
- 1 wetsuit or snow coat for outdoor activities
From 9 months to 3 years
As baby grows into a toddler, they begin to explore the world around them. But at this age, they still need regular diaper changes. A dozen spare, easy-to-clean outfits will do the trick.
These outfits consist of:
- 5 to 10 pairs of pants
- 7 to 10 t-shirts
- 5 to 8 sweaters or sweatshirts
- 5 to 10 dresses
- 2 or 3 coats or jackets
- 10 boxers or briefs
- 5 pajamas
Ages 4 to 9
As the age of reason dawns (for children aged 6-8), your little wolf starts to pay more attention totheir clothes and their lifespan is considerably extended. No more t-shirts with holes in them after just two days of playtime!
On average, a child aged 3 to 10 needs:
- 5 to 7 pairs of pants
- 7 to 10 t-shirts
- 5 to 7 sweaters or sweatshirts
- 5 to 7 dresses
- 2 or 3 coats or jackets
- 10 boxers or briefs
- 5 pajamas
Ages 10 to 14
In the pre-teen and teenage years, tastes assert themselves, and we generally seek to express our identity through our clothes. That said, at this age,a child's clothing needs can vary according to their personality and preferences.
On average, your pre-teen or teenager will need:
- 7 pairs of pants
- 10 t-shirts
- 7 sweaters or sweatshirts
- 7 dresses
- 3 coats/jackets
- 10 boxer shorts
- 3 pajamas
